A Love Letter

Dear Zucchini Cookies,
You're delicious and all, which is nice. But you're confusing.
Even though your directions say 375, you burn on the bottom at more that 350. My center rack is to low for you, what cookie is like that?! You're directions ask for raisins, which just proves what I've always knows about you- you have a mistaken sense of who you are. I mean, you're a zucchini cookie. Your flavor is gentle and subtle. Why choose to be overpowered by an unnecessary fruit when you exist in understated vegetable majesty!
Most people would think you're a little gross, being that you are made without sugar and with whole wheat flower, but I'm in love with you enough to work on our relationship. Sometimes, I think I may be in love with the idea of you more than anything else. Other times, I identify with your confusing nature, the orchid-like way in which you flourish in only conditions that are just-so, and the unappreciated subtleties of your personality. Your gentle yet distinct flavor reflects my understated yet overly-felt emotions. Your blend of healthful deliciousness in spite of your sweetness speaks to my soul's desire to be well above most other things.
I find myself within you, and I thank you for being who you are, even if no one else understands.
Unashamedly yours,
Nikki
