OK, We're officially hipsters, I think.

We have our own record player!

I wish I had a way to get you pictures, but the ones I take on a certain Windows-based smartphone (I bought it off a friend, don't judge) won't get on my mac, and the battery charger for Mark's camera is still lost. However, I can describe it for you in the form of this free verse poem:

It rises like the sun in 1973
And warms my house with oaky fake wood
It sounds pretty but it took a while to fix
It was my grandmas
And then my uncles
And he doesnt use it
So now we have it
YAY!

As sad sad sad fate would have it, there was not a damn thing other than the Beegees and Elliot Smith at the local record store and we were forced to go into the Galleria and leave the safety of the Apple Store to go into ...shhhhh... hot topic. Don't tell.

We got a few fun copies. I love that vinyl is coming with a free mp3 download- thanks for respecting my need for both record companies.

My favorite thing about the beast is that it helps me appreciate the art of an album. Songs put together in an order, for some particular reason. Also the sound is different and amazing and it creates this aura of the music experience itself being a source of entertainment.

So thanks musicians, for still putting out on vinyl for geeks like me. Especially you, Motion City Soundtrack :)

  1. Nikki - One of Brian's pieces during grad school included pressing a Mario Brothers-inspired piano game controller onto vinyl! Want a copy for your new player? Gail
